The greenhouse indicator

"A report by the international, non-profit advocacy organisation, the Climate Group (CG), says GHG emissions in Aust's three biggest states increased in 2008. CG's Greenhouse Indicator Report said total emissions in NSW, Vic and Qld last year were 3.6m tonnes (1.3%) higher than in 2007. CG said the trend was not uniform, with a drop of 0.5m tonnes in NSW being outweighed by rises in Vic (2.2m tonnes) and Qld (2m tonnes). CG's Aust director Rupert Posner said most of the increase in 2008 emissions was from coal-fired power generators in Vic and Qld."
