"Fed and state environment ministers have agreed to develop national guidelines for wind farms after considering a report on impediments to the industry's development. After a Nov 7 meeting of the Environment Protection & Heritage Council (EPHC), fed environment minister Peter Garrett said the guidelines would be developed over the next 12 months. The report said national guidelines would not replace existing state and territory regulatory processes to assess wind-farm proposals, but would establish best practice models that would assist in building community acceptance and support for wind-energy developments."
