"The Fed Govt is seeking feedback by Oct 10 on how to implement a commitment to remove the least environmentally friendly versions of incandescent light bulbs from the Aust market. A regulatory impact statement (RIS) issued by the dept said mandatory energy-performance standards for incandescent lamps and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) would be introduced to phase out the "poorest-performing" products. The first stage would implement a plan announced by the minister in June, by imposing import restrictions on inefficient incandescent light bulbs from November. Retailers would have 12 months to sell existing bulbs before a complete ban took effect."
