"A new report has found that during 2005-2006, Queensland's woody vegetation areas were cleared at an average rate of 375,000 hectares per year. The report defines woody vegetation as including stands of native vegetation, disturbed areas of native vegetation, regrowth, plantations of native and exotic species, some woody weeds and urban woody vegetation. The SLATS report shows that the rate of woody vegetation clearance is 7% higher than for the 2004-2005 period, which showed a clearance rate of 351,000 hectares annually."
